That says a lot actually about the nature of modern science today that our theories and the process has not lead us from information to wisdom. One of the biggest mistakes that I see intelligent people making is to stop being hungry for better theories. The science journalism is not serving our needs in this regard; we can do much, much better.
Wisdom can only come from an approach where we strive to be our own best critics ...
... and what this means is that we must systematically map out the debates of science. There is no shortcut to wisdom whereby we can simplistically filter out all of the arguments we disagree with.
