I'm beginning to like this guy

I didn't want to, but I'm really beginning to like this man. Not yet convinced the rest of the electorate will, but Scotland suggests... maybe... ?

  1. It's worth noting that he didn't actually mention Clause IV at all. Not that I noticed, but Ken Livingstone pointed it out. The re-nationalisation, yes, but not the olde worlde way of saying it.

  2. Even if you don't remember read about what a nightmare it was before. British Leyland for example.

And saying the Tabloids ruined the reputation of BL is clearly a statement made by someone who had not owned one of their cars.

  3. Yes, the press always  ran a pack of lies about that.

  4. Don't remember British Leyland, but I'm pretty sure that privatising the railways didn't help much.

I have no objection to private companies providing public services. I'd just there also to be a government-run, non-profit motivated alternative as well.

  5. Rhys Taylor What you believe happened at BL depends very much on whether you believe tabloid rags owned by billionaires with a vested interest.

The Tories destroyed the railway system long before it was privatised (Beeching), because the firms that built the motorways paid the Tories a lot of money. Splitting it into chunks for their friends to profit from, while having us still subsidise the track, was just the final stage in the idiocy.

  6. It would just be nice if he wasn't so unhinged on foreign policy (NATO, Milosevic, Castro, Chavez, Gaddafi, Hamas, Hezbollah…)

  7. History shows that Adolf Hitler had a similar following.
For the people- for the working class-
Even had a car named- "The Peoples Car" Voltz Wagon!

Did his rhetoric persuade the masses to follow him? It sure did- !  Just a thought.

  9. Rhys Taylor THen let me compare it to
Mao Zedong- The Chinese Communist leader- During his reign - Pampered to the "Working Class People" who adored him-
encouraged them to go out and scourge the intellectuals-They still only had a "bowl of rice a day"-
He dressed like them- until he was behind closed doors where he lived the life of luxury.

  10. Think you find it was private companies that built railways, labour continued beechings work under Harold Wilson all the way up to '79 the because the railways where publicly owned, like everything else the unions held the country to ransom

  11. Lawrence Scott Except in the old USSR- There the unions were not allowed to strike!
    At all over anything!

  12. Steve .specterman Making comparisons with dictators because people happen to like Corbyn is meaningless. Lots of popular politicians have completely and utterly failed to become dictators.

  13. Rhys Taylor Not in this case-
For I read now daily- of people saying- I dont usualy like left wing ideology but I like him for his outspoken and sincere ways so I will vote for him"

    This is dangerous.
He has already said he will evoke clause 4 .
    But does not say why.
    Thats a good start.

  14. Steve .specterman Lots of people say the same about Nigel Farrage. Or Jeremy Clarkson. Or Boris Johnson. Becoming a dictator is not so easy.

  16. Why is it that occasionally, and completely at random, my political posts attract a bunch of people who I've never interacted with before and who hold radically different views to myself ? Did this go "what's hot" or something ?

  17. Rhys Taylor I have observed this happening to other people, and it sometimes happens to me as well. I believe it is being coordinated by at least one person. I'm not paranoid enough to be convinced it's the 77th Brigade, but then again, it could be. It's hard to tell clever propaganda from illiterate idiots. I generally block them after they respond to a sensible argument with bigger lies, or insults.

  18. Rhys Taylor Don't remember British Leyland? That's the whole point you muppet! Lefties and Trade Unions destroyed British Leyland by constantly going on strike. What do you think will happen if industries are re-nationalised? STRIKE STRIKE STRIKE, closely followed by DOLE DOLE DOLE. PS I'm the son of a coal miner from Liverpool, I should be Labour through and through but hate them with a passion #VoteUKIP
