Oh what could possibly go wrong...

"Safe for kids" is an oxymoron, at least when it comes to information. More like, "won't cause the parents discomfort when they find out what their kids already know."
ReplyDeleteMay it go the path of Net Nanny.
On the contrary, Lilith von Fraumench, a system like Net Nanny is exactly what's needed - if it can be made to work. The alternative is much, much worse.

Considering that "transgender" was blocked as a bad word in Net Nanny, and so does Kiddle, I must respectfully disagree. The Internet saved me back in the early 90s because it was the only place at the time where I could find other trans people. I worry about young trans people being stuck in bad homes and unable to reach out online. While I understand the appeal of having a "kid-safe" Internet, I'm far less happy with what many consider "unsafe" to start.
