HUGS FOR ALL
To everyone in America Trumpsville, a great big hug. Because every time I check the news it seems to be getting worse. Yes, even if you voted for Trump that arsehole of a monster, even if you are sadly deluded enough to still think that somehow this is a good thing - you're getting a hug too.

#Overheard: "I wish I had pie. With all this Trump bullshit going on, a man needs pie."
ReplyDelete-not sure which one of my G+ friends posted that, but it's not mine.
EDIT: it was Cara Evangelista
Spreading this one around:
ReplyDelete"If someone's political stance requires preventing scientists from informing you about your own planet, that's not politics, it's oppression."
Thanks Rhys Taylor ... I needed that!!
ReplyDeleteIt is beyond comprehension, it is unfathomable, that anybody voted for that subhuman piece of corrupt scum. I am even comfortable saying that I hate anybody who did vote for him. If you could feel the mood here...my community of sane friends are galvanizing, preparing, researching, sharing the best we can. For the first time, Facebook has some value for the greater good.
ReplyDeletekristienmarie thijssen I know how you feel, but please remember it's not the people we should hate. They are frustrated, not evil.
ReplyDeletekristienmarie thijssen Indeed, it's hard not to want to kick 'em in the teeth, isn't it ? I try to remember that forgiveness does not mean compromise. Not one inch will I concede to anyone who thinks that people can be judged solely on their place of birth, their professed religion or their gender, or that it's OK to torture other human beings. I try to remember that people generally only want to hurt other people because they themselves are in pain. And so I try, to the fullest though imperfect extent that I can, not to hate them, because hatred fuels hatred. I have to believe that the majority of those calling for violence and bigotry are doing so not because they are by nature evil, but because they are suffering, misled, or both. So I will forgive them, but this will not stop me from fighting tooth and nail against every disgusting action they try to take.
ReplyDeleteRhys Taylor kristienmarie thijssen At the risk of sounding smarmy and preachiferous, okay, that's what it is - anyway - forgiveness is something I do for myself. It's not something I do for the person I'm forgiving. I forgive to avoid losing my mind. I forgive, that I may be forgiven. As Rhys points out, forgiveness does not mean compromise, as if I was wrong to be angry.
ReplyDeleteNietzsche said if you stare into the void, the void starts staring back. I don't know about all that. But this much I know about anger and recrimination, the longer I stare into that abyss, the more closely I examine my oppressors and tormentors, the more apparent my own unfairness and beastliness and unforgiving nature becomes.
We must never allow ourselves to be reconciled to evil - and there's no other word to describe this charlatan. Thou shalt not lie. Trump lies to himself, first: only then does he lie to us, sending forth his lying heralds to tell us. We must, at the very least, tell the truth to ourselves.
"For from the least of them even to the greatest of them, everyone is greedy for gain, and from the prophet even to the priest, everyone deals falsely. They have healed the brokenness of my people superficially, saying, 'Peace, peace,' but there is no peace."
