Space Stig will spend eternity on Mars looking at cat memes thanks to magic crystals

Our first Arch libraries are data crystals that last billions of years... We are very happy to announce that our first Arch library, containing the Isaac Asimov Foundation Trilogy, was carried as payload on today’s SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch, enroute to permanent orbit around the Sun.

So, Space Stig will have something to read before his car disintegrates under the radiation and the little crystals float off in to the void.

We are also designing an Arch library to land on Mars. The Mars Library™ will be designed to supply a future human settlement on Mars with a vast collection of important knowledge from Earth — including perhaps a copy of a large portion of the Internet.

Great ! He'll have some porn to watch when he lands as well. Awww.

We are technology agnostic....

This truly can evolve into Asimov’s vision of an Encyclopedia Galactica someday — an encyclopedia containing all the knowledge accumulated by a galaxy-spanning civilization.

Yeah, umm....


The Arch libraries are monuments that inspire us today, and may inspire and inform others in the future for thousands to millions of years, or longer. We can think of them as gifts to the future.

The grand nobility of the vision would have been a lot more inspiring had I somehow not known that most of human knowledge now consists of cat gifs and pornography. But, per aspera ad astra and all that...
