According to a recent Gallup Poll, Mr Drumpf's support among members of his own party at the 500-day mark of his presidency sits at 87%, second only to George W Bush's 96%, which came nine months after the September 11 World Trade Center attacks.
The technical term for this is "fooookin' mental."
[But as noted in the comments, there may be a powerful selection effect. The poll uses people who self-identify as Republican, and people may no longer do this thanks to Trump. It ought to be possible to tell if this is happening by monitoring the fractions of self-identifying Republicans in successive polls.]

I've seen this one before. But, as someone pointed out in the previous thread, this assumes that the number of people self-identifying as Republican has remained constant.
ReplyDeleteIf (as polls seem to suggest) many people are being driven away from identifying as Republican by his policies then his support will go up in percentage terms. The ultimate limit would be 100% with only one person identifying as Republican and supporting him!
That would be a very interesting but entirely plausible selection effect.
