  1. Huh. I had been thinking of this as something mostly caused by Reagan, but I see the inflection point looks more like Nixon. Of course, Ford had to deal with the worst recession since the Great Depression; both Ford and Carter could do little in the roiling post-Watergate crisis of power to sway the course.
