Brexit news in brief

We live in interesting times and I hate them.

No-one's going to lose any sleep over 1). 2) is educational. 3) is farcically hilarious. There was a time, long long ago, when UKIP could claim with some plausibility not to be racist. Back then, Nigel was playing the EU-is-too-bureaucratic card and was clearly a fringe nutter banging on about something literally no-one cared about. Amazingly enough, this failed to have any impact whatsoever. Since then we've had Nigel claiming that people should be worried by Romanians moving in next door, standing in front of "breaking point" posters of refugees supposedly flooding Europe, and directly and openly saying that employers should be allowed to discriminate on the basis of colour.

Whoever could have foreseen that UKIP would turn to racism ? Astonishing.

Last Brexit news of today, three for the price of one:

1) The BBC has ditched plans to have a Brexit debate between Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn. Makes sense. How can you have a debate between people who agree with each other?

2) Incomparables being incomparable, lets not forget that Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, and David Cameron lost 16 votes in 19 years. Theresa May has managed to lose 18 votes in 14 months.

3) In an attempt to stay in the news, Nigel Farage has quit UKIP. Because they are too racist for Nigel, he says.

  1. My take on this matter is that good ol' Nigel was always after the 'racist in blazers' crowd, the shire racists which are populous enough and respected enough to bring a party catered to their tastes into parliament. You can't do that with the knuckledraggers from the BNP, so he needed to keep these out of UKIP. So, in a sense, its a class thing.
