That's a first for me. I've lived in muslim countries, met gays, and all admit that staying hidden and on the wrong side of society has a destructive effect.
Most are aware of the fact that the Prophet Muhammad openly welcomed and protected homosexuals, even if he did not encourage it.
Matter Beam I suspect this has more to do with the "country" part than the "Muslim" part. For reasons way too complicated to detail here, most nations with a Muslim majority/government today are repressive, and most repressions seem to have gays among their targets. Tangent: were/are gays persecuted under USSR and other Communist governments? That's something I've never heard about...
Experiment proposal: turn Iran into a progressive republic and study how gay are treated then vs now. Can someone help me with the grant request forms?
